Snowfall Chapter 3

Lou was looking through some old files from previous cases, when he got a call from his good friend, Matt.

"I have a girl at my house, and she's lost her memory. Maybe you could give her a hand?"

"Sure, no problem. Just bring her and all her belongings over after this storm is over."

Alright. Thanks bud.

Matt then hung up the phone.

A girl with a lost memory? This could get interesting... Lou
thought. Lou was a great detective, one of the best in the area. He had
solved many cases, robberies, gangs, even mass murder cases. But he had
never been confronted with something like this... but that was the fun
part of being a detective. A new challenge was always good.

After three long hours of waiting for the snow storm to pass, it was finally over. Matt would be here any minute now.

Ring!

Good, he's here.

"Hey Matt, you're here." Lou noticed the girl he was carrying. "How did she get all those wounds?" Lou said.

"Your guess is as good as mine."

"Okay. Could you set her down in my room? We can discuss this in there."

"So, you remember absolutely nothing. Am I correct?" Lou questioned Kotarin.

"Well, no... I remember a tall, winding staircase, but thats it." Kotarin said sadly.

"Thats okay." Lou said while he jotted down some notes.

"And Matt, did you manage to figure out anything about her while she was at your house?"

"Yes, I found out that her name is Kotarin, and she has a brother named Eldon. He seems to be a very good artist."

Matt pulled out a drawing of an oak tree and handed it to Lou. On the back, it had some writing.

"Do you have anything else I could take a look at?" Lou asked.

  Matt pulled out a dagger, a torn hoodie, and the dagger's seath. The
dagger still had some dried blood on it, and seemed like it had been
used often. Maybe it was a hunting knife? Lou wrote down more notes on
his notepad.

"Do you mind if I take a look at your injuries, Kotarin?" Lou asked politely.

"Sure. Anything to help." Kotarin replied.

Matt unravled a bandage on her arm. It seemed like a pretty deep
cut,and the cut was somewhat narrow. It had to be from a knife.

"These cuts you got are from a knife. You appear to have been in battle,
but with who is the question." Lou explained. "I would like to see
where you found her, Matt. Could you take me there?"

"Sure, but I want to leave Kotarin here. I don't want to reopen her wounds." Matt replied.

"This is where I found her." Matt said. Lou then began investigating
the area, where Kotarin's imprint was just barely there. There were even
still blood that forever stained the brick clocktower. Lou started
sketching out several drawings of the scene, imprint, bloodstains, and
all. He then took a closer look at the bloodstains and imprint, the way
they were patterned was very distinctive. Lou wrote down more notes, and
turned to Matt.

"It appears that she fell from the top of the
clocktower. Kotarin was on top of the clock tower, fighting something
with knifes. She either slipped and fell, or she was pushed off by what
she was battling. When she fell, she hit her head on the ground and lost
her memory, but the snow broke her fall, so the hit didn't kill her.
Now, we just need to figure out who tried to kill Kotarin. Until then,
keep her at my house. I want to be able to keep an eye on her, and help
her recover her memory." Lou explained with expiriance.

"Well, do
you mind if I stay over there with her? I want to help you out in your
investigation, and make sure Kotarin recovers." Matt asked.

"No
problem. I have a guest bedroom for you to stay at. Kotarin will stay in
a seprate room though, are you fine with that?" Lou said as the two
began walking home.

"Thank you, I appreciate you helping her out.
But just wait until we tell her this stuff!" Matt said as they
approched Lou's house. This is where it begins, Matt...Lou thought. This is where it begins...
